Product Description
Futaba Aoi is the Shrine Mon (marking) of Shimogamo shrine and Kamigamo shrine in Kyoto. There is a Futaba Aoi (Hollyhock) festival in spring. The leaves of hollyhock always face the sun and it is believed to be a representation of future good fortune.
Also the Futaba Aoi image appears to be a heart. The image is used to represent a happy marriage.

This Furoshiki pattern is from typical Karacho Hangi (woodblock print) motifs that have been handed down for many years. There is also a glittering shine created from the traditional mica printing method. Please also use Furoshiki and Fukusa for gifts.
Karacho
Karacho (Karakamiya Chouemon) established in 1624. Until now, it has only been passed down through the Karakami workshops. Karakami made by the Hangi, generation after generation are used for sliding screen doors and wallpaper. It has a famous use in historical building s like the sliding screens of Katsura rikyu (an Imperial villa in Kyoto) as well as in Nijo castle. More than 650 patterns of hangi can be found in postcards or lampshades; a new adaptation and representation for our modern lifestyle.
